Belarus: Lukashenko vows to stay in first interview since protests

President tells Russian reporters that if he resigned the opposition would smash Belarus

The Belarusian president, Alexander Lukashenko, has used his first interview since mass protests erupted in opposition to his rule to mention he does no longer plan to step down quickly.

Lukashenko spoke to a bunch of pro-Kremlin Russian reporters together with the editor-in-chief of Russia These days, Margarita Simonyan, and made it transparent he plans to combat to hang directly to energy.
