'Parthenon of shipwrecks': Greece opens its first underwater museum

A ruin boasting a trove of fifth-century BC amphorae has been opened to divers off the island of Alonissos

Greece has inaugurated its first underwater museum, a trove of fifth-century BC amphorae labelled the “Parthenon of shipwrecks”, off the coast of Alonissos island within the western Aegean.

The web page of the ruin will likely be open to excursions by way of qualified beginner divers from three August to two October, whilst those that can’t dive can practice a digital fact excursion at a knowledge centre in the primary the town of Alonissos.
