When you’re compiling a “best of” list of products, it’s always helpful to explain your own personal experience with the subject matter. At 6’4” and 250lbs, I am what you might call a “big guy.” One time, my friends dared me to eat a six-patty cheeseburger at Wendy’s, so I ate a seven patty burger, and then chased it with a Frosty just to make a point. I only say this to let you know I am well acquainted with one of the many challenges facing big guys (and girls): finding a comfortable gaming chair that isn’t a couch. Based on my research, here’s the list of the best gaming chairs for those of us who are tired of sitting on an office chair and feeling like we’re sitting on a kindergarten chair.

The Best Budget Gaming Chair — Homall High-Back Racing Chair

As you might expect, there just isn’t much in the way of “budget” chairs when it comes to quality items that fit into the big and tall category since their very nature requires robust construction. But this $90 Homall chair is a well-reviewed racer-style gaming chair with foam padding, steel frame construction, a gas lift for height adjustments, and a faux-leather covering. The 300lb weight capacity and the high back make it suitable for most big and tall gamers, and at only $90 this chair is hard to beat for the price.

The Best Midrange Gaming Chair — AmazonBasics Big and Tall Executive Chair

If racing chairs aren’t your thing, or if you need a chair that doesn’t scream “gamer” in your office, this chair from Amazon is a solid option, pardon the pun. This big boy has an impressive width of over 27 inches and a height of 47 inches. The leather upholstery adds a high-quality feel, and with a weight limit of 350lbs this chair is very accommodating. There’s a pneumatic height control for making sure you don’t end up with your knees around your elbows, and its adjustable lumbar support keeps your lower back protected from injury too.

The Best Overall Value Racing Chair — GTRacing Racing Chair

The cool thing about this GTRacing chair is it has all the looks and many of the features of a $400-plus racing chair for less than half the price. There’s the removable headrest pillow, a lumbar support pillow, and the adjustable arm rests (which come in handy for when your desk height doesn’t quite match your seating needs). The seating area is little more narrow than the AmazonBasics chair above, but it rises up over 50 inches, so this is a good option for taller people. The sturdy frame offers pneumatic height adjustment and you can even tilt the whole thing flat if you need to take a break and just nap.

The Best Looking Gaming Chair — Secretlab Titan

Secretlab has been making waves in the gaming chair market, and its Titan model sets an impressive bar for big and tall gamers. Under its tough steel frame, the Titan is loaded with a Class 4 (read: very heavy duty) gas piston for adjusting height and supporting the gamer’s weight. Secretlab claims the Titan can accommodate users up to 6’6” and 290lbs. Unfortunately, the weight limit is a bit lower than some chairs on this list, but the 22-inch seat width is excellent, and the build quality looks tank-like. If the specs work in your favor, this one stylish big and tall chair, and the gold embroidered “T” on the backrest looks eerily presidential.

The Best High Capacity Gaming Chair — Vertagear P-Line 6000

The P-Line 6000 from Vertagear just looks like a big-boy gaming chair, doesn’t it? If there’s any doubt, this racing-style throne can support up to 440lbs and is designed for users up to a height of 6’8”, so there’s plenty of room here. As you might have guessed, a chair with that much support features a heavy duty steel frame, a headrest pillow and lumbar support, and the foam padding will keep you comfortable. Under the chair you’ll find a five-wheel aluminum base lets the chair double as a personal scooter.

The Best High-End Gaming Chair — DXRacer Tank

DXRacer is one of the most well-respected names in gaming chairs, so it should come as no surprise they also make an excellent racing-style chair for big and tall gamers. As the name suggests, this chair is built like a tank and is capable of supporting up to 450lbs. Its back rest can accommodate gamers up to 6’7”, making the DXRacer Tank is one of the tallest chairs on this list. In fact, DXRacer only recommends this chair for people at least 6’1” tall. There’s a number of tilt options, as well as an extra-wide seating base and it comes with not one, but two gas canisters for supporting the frame. Unfortunately, all of those features don’t come cheap as it’ll set you back about $600.
